BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Rory Clark has almost 20 years‟ experience in senior management and practical experience and education in organic farming, horticulture, permaculture, and ecological restoration. He has received professional permaculture training and has been responsible for numerous successful, large-scale projects in the development sector. With more than a decade of project management, training and facilitating experience with NPOs, he is also a sought-after private consultant and trainer. Most recently, before founding Imbewu Yoshintso, he was employed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to manage and implement a sustainable agriculture and permaculture project, in an international context. Rory was previously a project and training manager for The African Conservation Trust (ACT), establishing numerous food gardens and undertaking training and facilitating, on their behalf. He has worked extensively in northern KwaZulu-Natal and has demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, while working with project participants from different cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Rory has demonstrated sound financial control, stakeholder engagement, report writing, proposal writing and fundraising skills, in each of the projects under his management. In addition to this vast experience, he is competent with CAD generated farm layouts and planning and is an excellent photographer with filming and editing skills

Zimisele Luthuli is an experienced and motivated agro-ecological trainer and mentor. He has worked on numerous permaculture projects, and trained and mentored many project beneficiaries, in his role with Imbewu Yoshintso and previously for The African Conservation Trust. He has valuable working experience working with rural communities, creating both small and large-scale food gardens and food forests, creating and developing community nurseries and constructing rainwater harvest systems. Zimisele has excellent inter-personal skills, and is gifted in the field of public relations, resulting in continuous successful community engagement. He has contributed to the growth of key projects and has played a role in co-mentorship and development of field staff. Zimisele is well liked by colleagues, project trainees and beneficiaries alike and is regularly singled out as being an exceptional trainer.

Tarryne Smith has an extensive background in the arts and creative sector. She is an experienced beadmaker and ceramic artist. She is a competent and capable trainer and her work ties into Imbewu Yoshintso‟s vision of sustainable livelihoods. Tarryne is Eastern-Cape based and will be expanding on Imbewu Yoshintso project offerings in this area. She is additionally responsible for Imbewu‟s social media profile.
