About Us
Seeds of change
Imbewu Yoshintso, “Seeds of Change,” was founded in 2021 and is a legally constituted non-profit
company dedicated to improving lives in communities and the natural environment.
Our projects include food gardens at creches and in communities, tree and seedling nurseries,
restoration of degraded land and education, training and mentoring in the permaculture and
agro-ecology sectors.
The concept at the core of all Imbewu Yoshintso initiatives is environmental conservation and
socio-economic sustainability working in tandem, to generate job creation, food security,
conservation of resources and alleviation of conflict in the spaces where communities and wildlife
meet.
BACKGROUND
Although Imbewu Yoshintso is a newly formed organisation, directors Rory Clark and Zimisele Luthuli are well-experienced in the food security and sustainable development sector. Together they make a formidable team, which enables efficient conceptualising, development, management, and delivery of their projects. A wildlife economy, as defined by The South African Department of Environmental Affairs, is one centred on „the socio-economic benefits of eco-tourism, co-managed conservation areas and ancillary services to protected areas.‟ Along with a dedicated focus on permaculture and agro-ecology practices, the wildlife economy is at the heart of Imbewu Yoshintso initiatives.
