The People

The hands in the soil.

Funders fund projects, but projects are run by people. Here are ours.

Founder & Project Coordinator

Rory Clark

Rory has spent 20 years working in permaculture, food security, and ecological restoration across KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, and the Eastern Cape. He managed a UNDP-funded sustainable agriculture project in Lesotho, and was a project and training manager for the African Conservation Trust. In 2021 he founded Imbewu Yoshintso to take on and grow the food-sovereignty and restoration work begun under the ACT in 2019.

He is a registered AgriSeta assessor with an NQF 2 certification in Agro-ecological Farming Practices, and is currently based in Vienna, Austria. The thing that works never changes: get people outside, and get their hands dirty.

“He is very good at explaining things. He can take time in his work, he is not rushing.— A trainee
